Straight up, if you and I don’t see eye to eye on Westville then we need to end this relationship immediately. Like, now. And I don’t think we can “just be friends” either. My go-to of all go-tos, I literally eat here or get delivery three times a week. It’s permanently entrenched in my weekly routine and I don’t know what I’d do without it. It’s worth the fifteen minute wait during prime time, and they usually deliver within twenty minutes (granted, I live around the corner…but still). Westville East is the ultimate utility spot that delivers the goods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and does it in affordable fashion. It’s not necessarily cheap, but it won’t break the bank and you get top quality plus respectable quantity that’s sure to fill you up. Let’s talk food, shall we? I’ve pretty much eaten everything on this menu twice, so this could be long …
Food Rundown:
Salads
Anything in the realm of veggies, Westville has down to a science. Their salads are big and cut right to the point without getting too cute. You can add and subtract from the salad ingredients and they don’t get pissed about it. Definitely go with chicken over the steak as your protein. Favorites include: Watercress with Arugula, Pears, Peaches & Sweet Roasted Walnuts, Westville Cobb with Grilled Chicken, Bacon, Avocado, and Bleu Cheese and the Greek Salad over Grilled Bread with Melted Herb Goat Cheese, Olives, Cucumbers, Red Onions and Feta Cheese
Market
Westville always has 20 plus options available on their “Market” menu. You can pick four and eat it as your meal if you so please. Favorites include: Brussel Sprouts in Honey Dijon, Sauteed Broccoli with Roasted Peppers, Sweet Potato Fries and Green Peas with Shallots and Bacon
Grilled Lemon Herb Chicken
The perfect mid-week dinner, it’s served in a light and tangy sauce, with two sides, and cooked to perfection.
Salmon Teriyaki
Every time I order this dish, I can’t help but think of this chick that we nicknamed just that years back after a friend took her home from the bar next door (HiFi RIP). Damn, that was a quality nickname. One of my favorite dishes at Westville, this permanent special slays. It’s served with salad and one market side, which needs to be garlic mash.
Hamburger/Veggie Burger/Turkey Burger
People freak out over both the Veggie and Turkey burgers here. That’s a little too healthy for our blood, but we’re not surprised they’re awesome considering they come out of of the same kitchen that cooks up a moist, juicy and all around very well executed burger. Be prepared to get a little messy.
Lemon Pepper Chicken Salad Sandwich
We’re huge into chicken salad and find a lot of places cut corners and don’t necessarily pay attention to the details that make chicken salad either incredible or just average. Not at Westville. This is Chicken Salad done right. Shredded chicken with a heavy doses of pepper, onions, celery and lemon that makes for a high quality sandwich.
Egg Scramble Sandwich/Platter
Just what the doctor ordered for Saturday morning hangovers. Westville does very well with their brunch, pay attention to the specials because those are usually where it’s at.
Homemade Oreo Cookie
This leaves a little to be desired. I always order it because it looks so damn good but it’s a little too dry. There’s too much chocolate cookie and not enough cream filling. However, it tastes a lot better cold. Take it home and put it in the fridge for an hour.
Chocolate Chip Milkshake
AWESOME, but apparently not on the menu anymore? What happened? Please bring it back in time for summer.
*Notes
We’ve never been lucky enough to actually catch Westville on a day that they have the Sloppy Joe in stock and on special. Sometimes it will be on the specials list, but they always seem to be out of it. It feels like its been eluding me my entire life. If anyone goes to Westville East and they actually have it, email me immediately and I’ll come and meet you there for the official taste test.
