In case you haven’t noticed, we’re freaks for the NBA around these parts. Particularly, the long suffering Knicks. With the NBA Finals upon us and the usual depression setting in that coincides with the Orange & Blue being further away from the action than Ron Artest from reality, Friday Fives takes it to the hardwood this week. We put the full court press on our favorite Knicks (and Red Bulls!) reporter, MSG analyst Tina Cervasio.
Since she arrived on the MSG sidelines two years ago, we’ve had a serious thing for Tina. Not only is she easy on the eyes, but a walking sports encyclopedia (which is always impressive for a female) and total pro on camera. Her picks? Celtics in 6. 30% chance of LeBron coming to NYC. Oh, you mean food? See below and don’t forget to follow Tina’s wild world of sports on Twitter.
Tina’s “Perfect For” Picks
Sports on TV
Foley’s NY Pub & Restaurant (18 W. 33rd St.) – “Owner Sean Clancy treats everyone like an All-Star; it’s a baseball bar, Irish Pub, has good eats, and you’ll never miss the action when your favorite team is playing. Look for the baseballs I’ve signed … yes, I’ve signed two! “
Date Night
Via Della Pace (48 E. 7th St.) – “Owner Zio Pietro (Uncle Pietro) and his nephew GM Giovanni Bartocci will serve you like you’re Italian Royalty. Lush wines from all regions of Italy, fun robust atmosphere, the mozzarella is in Milan in the morning and on your plate at night. Good for first dates because of all the action, yet intimate for an old married couple looking for some romance Italian style. (You may even run into a particular, Italian NY Knick) “
Chronic Brunch
Pastis (9 9th Ave.) – “Great for people watching in my FAVORITE neighborhood (Meatpacking)! Love the Zero Calorie Croque-Madame … it brings out the inner Parisian in me. “
Girls Night Out
Buddakan (75 9th Ave.) – “Sorry Carrie Bradshaw, been coming here since before your rehearsal dinner. From 2 girls up to 15, food is yummy, drinks are fun, atmosphere … sexy! “
Outdoor/Patio Situation
Frying Pan (Pier 66) – “After covering baseball for several years and missing out on happy hours/summer dining … long live basketball season, giving me summer days and nights to take advantage of the fun, outside atmosphere. Its like I’m 21 again. “
