2010 Wrap Up

Another 175 restaurants reviewed, The Turkey Leg Ball, fish tacos & fake mustaches, a new website design and seven days of clean living – it’s been another eventful year here at Immaculate Infatuation. If you look really, really closely, the 2010 in that image is made up of all the Twitpics we’ve taken over the last twelve months. That’s a whole lot of eating to look back on. You can check them out here. Get in there and see if you can guess what’s from where in the comments section of each photo.

Here you’ll find our most and least favorite things this year from the world of restaurants and otherwise. Bring on 2011.

Feelin’ It

Kin Shop
We’re obviously not the only ones raving about this place, and for good reason. Kin Shop’s Thai influenced dishes can be both entirely new and very familiar at the same time. And all of it is ridiculously delicious.

Poached Eggs
They make everything better. Put one on a burger, scallops, steak or salad. We’ll take it all.

Oyster Bars
Hopefully this trend continues deep into 2011. We’re loving Jeffrey’s Grocery & The John Dory.

Kanye
Who cares how big of a d*ck he is, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is the album of the year. We’ll still be listening to it thirty years from now.

Warby Parker
Who doesn’t want a sweet pair of GQ approved frames for under $100?

AMC
Mad Men: Season four brought Draper and company to new heights. It was the best drama series we’ve seen on TV since The Sopranos in its prime. Breaking Bad: The best show no one talks about. If you haven’t gotten into this yet, the time is now. The Walking Dead: True, it’s a rip off of both 28 Days Later and I Am Legend, and the acting is kind of suspect. No matter; this is still damn good TV. Just make sure you power through the first episode, which is a little slow. It gets better as you go.

Over it

Churros & Donut Holes on Dessert Menus
Look, don’t get us wrong. We’re all for donuts, of Mexican origin or otherwise. But when every restaurant in town is deep frying dough and powdering on some sugar, it becomes a whole lot less exciting.

Fair-weather Knicks Fans
With the Knicks recent success, all kinds of fans are hoppin’ back on the bandwagon. It’s great that the team is good again, and we appreciate the fact that this city is once again interested. We just want all of you who have come crawling back to know that us Orange & Blue faithful can see right through your shenanigans. Remember when you bailed for the better part of the last decade? Well, we stuck with it and suffered through possibly the worst front office management by any team in sports history. When they do finally win one, it’ll be that much sweeter for those of us who didn’t quit.

“Amazeballs”
People. Stop. Now. Perez Hilton’s lingo? Really? You can do better than that.

“Foodie”
Contrary to popular belief, we do not consider ourselves “foodies.” We actually despise that word. We’re just dudes who love food. So, in the future, do us a favor and save the “foodie” lingo for the Chowhound message boards.

FitFlops
For all you women (and maybe men) relying on them for your daily workout, here’s an idea for 2011 – put down the churros (see above) and hit the gym. Not only are you not getting “fitter”, you look ridiculous.
