Gary Vaynerchuk

When we first started this website, Gary Vaynerchuk was a source of inspiration. On his Wine Library TV show, he describes wine as tasting like Skittles or Sour Patch Kids, all while dumping leftovers into a Jets spit bucket. Genius. If there was a market for real talk around intimidating subject matter like wine, then we could definitely find an audience describing high end restaurants as “Perfect For” Action At The Bar and Laughing At Euros In Crazy Outfits.

For those who may not be familiar, Gary Vaynerchuk is a huge fish in the small pond called the internet. His big personality and fresh take on an otherwise dull industry got him noticed, but it was his mastery of social media and the fire and desire in which he built relationships online that propelled him to the promise land. No longer limited to 140 characters, Vaynerchuk made a big splash with his debut book, the motivational New York Times bestseller Crush It (Buy Here). Gary’s latest project is a must for any wine enthusiast with an iPhone; deals, discounts and exclusive video of wine biz analysis all in an app called Daily Grape.

See below for Gary’s NYC restaurant picks. Aside from his Buffalo Wing Fix, he’s got damn good taste. Also, make sure you’re following him on Twitter , that’s where he’s really in his element.

Gary V’s “Perfect For” Picks

Buffalo Wing Fix

Atomic Wings (Multiple Locations) – “Only once a month my wife gets mad at me… when I order atomic wings and a root beer. Might not be the healthiest choice, but sitting there, eating these wings, and answering viewer’s emails is as close as it gets to nirvana on a Wednesday at 11 pm.”

Impressing Out Of Towners

Marea (240 Central Park South) – “When I think of quality food in NYC, this comes to top of mind. When I have an out of town friend come to the city, and I want to make a statement why New York is the best food city in the world, this is where I take ‘em.”

Fine Dining

Per Se (10 Columbus Circle #6) – “One of the iconic restaurants in all of NYC. Not for the faint of heart. I actually once saw a lady throw up at the table from eating too much. However, I will never allow myself to get to that level, and my wife and I will persevere and keep on eating.”

Late Night Eats

Blue Ribbon (97 Sullivan St.) – “2 am, not sure where to go, this is the first place that pops to mind. I head downtown, pop into BR because they’ve got a great wine program and the food is really solid. You can just feel the NYC vibe in this establishment.”

Neighborhood Hang

Sasabune (401 East 73rd Street) – “Lizzie (my wife) and I live on the UES and when we need a quick sushi fix there’s nothing more satisfying than stopping by Sasabune. The fish is fresh and always pushes the boundaries.”
