Steinthal’s Grandma (right) rules. Grandma and her partner in crime, “Aunt” Rita (left), are quite the crew. While they may live in Jersey (Fort Lee and Englewood respectively), they’re city chicks at heart. They hit the town hard on a regular basis, going to the theater, checking out new museum exhibits, and, of course, dining at classy restaurants. As a new recurring feature, we introduce Grandmas on the Town. We’ll be checking in with Grandma and “Aunt” Rita from time to time to see what’s poppin with the 80 and over crowd. If they dig a restaurant we’ve already reviewed, that restaurant gets a Grandma Approved tag. Check out their first entry below and make sure to watch the videos to see the dynamic duo interact together.

Hello Immaculate Infatuation, we’re pleased to meet you. The we I refer to are two Grandmothers, one being Andrew’s. We love and spend many hours in New York, but actually live in New Jersey. Being that we’re out on the Upper East and Upper West Sides a lot, we thought it’d be helpful to tip you off to areas we frequent and have found a few reliable restaurants in. We spend a great deal of time at the 92nd St Y and museum row. Two of the restaurants we frequent near the Y and give thumbs up to are Sfoglia on 92nd St. and Lexington Ave and Pascalou on Madison between 92nd and 93rd streets. Sfoglia is hard to get a reservation at but well worth your trial. The food is delectable Italian fare, but it is pricey, and Pascalou is good French fare, medium priced. Pascalou is very small but the food entices you back. We have one other restaurant to alert you to and that is Chin Chin at 216 E. 49th street. The food is special, the attention is wonderful, but it is quite expensive. We spend a great deal of time in the Lincoln Center area and just visited the new restaurant call Lincoln. It was a special evening for two of our friends. It is a lovely looking space, fairly quiet and service is excellent. However, they have to strengthen their menu. It is very pricey and doesn’t quite make it. We hope to return in a few months to give it another try. Hopefully the food has improved.
Thanks for reading. It’s been a pleasure.
Bye Now,
Marilyn and Rita
