Restaurants Perfect For Corporate Cards

Da Umberto
107 W. 17th St., Chelsea, NYOld school Italian restaurants. This city is full of them, and everyone has a favorite. Except us, that is. For whatever reason, this sort of dining has never appealed to us for much more than something to do with your third cousins when they come to visit from wherever third cousins come from. I guess [...]

15 East
15 E. 15th St., Union Square, NYBert and Ernie? Fergie and the weird looking dude from the Black Eyed Peas? That won’t work, Steinthal can’t run in heels. Sorry, just thinking of a few disguises for all the bank robberies we’re going to have to pull off to keep eating at 15 East. Maybe we’ll do the Hamburglar and Grimace. They’ll [...]

Aburiya Kinnosuke
213 East 45th St., Midtown East, NYFrom what we’re told, this is an authentic Japanese establishment, all the way down to the robata grill. We can’t vouch for its authenticity, nor are we sure that a robata grill isn’t something from the Sky Mall catalog, but we do happen to agree that this place is damn good.

Má Pêche
15 West 56th Street, Midtown, NYOK, we’ll admit it. We were a little hard on Má Pêche the first time around. At first, it was a let down. David Chang opening up a Midtown restaurant in our daytime backyard was a little too exciting. When it didn’t live up to our sky high expectations immediately, we were quick to judge. [...]

Strip House
13 E. 12th St., Greenwich Village, NYStrip House is a vibey downtown bordello of goodness, and is the antithesis to the things we hate about a place like Sparks or The Palm.

The Lambs Club
130 W. 44th Street, Midtown, NYIf we were members of the real deal expense account, suit wearing army, The Lambs Club would probably be our home base. With so many terrible restaurants in the Times Square area catering to such types, this is the one for maxing out the Corporate Card. No stranger to Midtown, Geoffrey Zakarian’s (The National, Le [...]

Catch
21 9th Ave, Meatpacking District, NYYou already know that we stay away from Meatpacking restaurant-club hybrids. Our idea of a good time does not include rubbing elbows with D-list celebs at Spice Market. Nor does it involve poppin’ bottles at Provocateur. But somehow, we ended up at Catch the other night, the new three story fish-topia opened by the Abe [...]

Bar Americain
152 W 52nd St., Midtown, NYBobby Flay’s huge, big money restaurant that feels more like Las Vegas than Midtown. The food is incredible, but a layaway plan to pay for it would be helpful.

The Modern
9 W. 53rd St., Midtown, NYThe best way for us to give you the lowdown on this place is to explain that it’s really two different experiences: the bar, and the dining room. One is a three course, prixe fixe fine dining experience, the other sleek, more relaxed, often features some Action at the Bar. If you’re going, go big and eat in the dining room.

Quality Meats
57 W. 58th Street, Midtown, NYEven though it’s in Midtown, this multi-level meat market serves up one of our favorite steaks in town, and it’s not what you might expect from a steakhouse in the area.
