Frankies (17) Spuntino
17 Clinton St., Lower East Side, NYA near identical clone of the Brooklyn favorite, Frankies 457. This one takes credit cards.

Katz’s Deli
205 E. Houston Street, Lower East Side, NYAs the lower east side slowly morphs into Seaside Heights, there’s one thing that stands pat – for now at least. Katz’s Deli isn’t just a glutenous Classic NYC Establishment, it’s a landmark that deserves government funding at this point. Rumors of its potential “the rent is too damn high” demise return every year, but, [...]

Frank
88 2nd Ave., East Village, NYFrank has been serving hungry hipsters in this hood for years now and doing it with their own DIY “we do it our way” attitude. The food is consistently solid, though a little underwhelming at times, but you come back regardless because it’s places like this that make the East Village one of the greatest neighborhoods in the world.

Cienfuegos
95 Avenue A, East Village, NYAt this point, it might appear to some that we get paid off in booze by the dudes behind the East Village matrix of Death & Co, Mayahuel and Cienfuegos. Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya
187 Orchard St., Lower East Side, NYOur admiration for Blue Ribbon is well documented. Despite a fast and furious expansion plan that could have easily doomed the brand, it seems that each new opening from this group brings a positive new angle to the growing empire. They seem to really understand that the most important factor is the food, which is [...]

Los Feliz
109 Ludlow St., Lower East Side, NYLa Esquina for the common folk, where the vibe and the drinks are the stars but with stellar food to boot. This cozy taqueria upstairs opens up into a raucous fiesta downstairs.

Mayahuel
304 E. 6th Street, East Village, NYInside Mayahuel’s unmarked door lies a dimly lit, bi-level dungeon of potential naughtiness. It’s paradise for a those who love tequila and is extremely dangerous for those whose stomachs don’t agree with it. Mayahuel is another one of those sexy Specialty Cocktail dens that have helped to reshape Date Night here in NYC. Trying to [...]

Forcella (Bowery)
344 Bowery, East Village, NYPizza is in a funny place these days. With the exception of Artichoke, very few new generation parlors go the slice route, despite the fact there’s obviously a big demand. For the current crop of dough freaks, it’s all about finding new school ways of cooking an old school pie and one-upping each other. After [...]
