  1. 69 Bayard

    69 Bayard

    69 Bayard St., Chinatown, NY

For a district that is so completely bananas during the day, Chinatown really shuts down at night. It’s eerily quiet after dark, with the majority of the restaurants closing up shop after 10pm. The streets are filled with stray cats, garbage trucks and an occasional drunken suit stumbling around on Doyers street after a few [...]

  2. Lure Fishbar
    7.0

    Lure Fishbar

    142 Mercer St., SoHo, NY

Lure Fish Bar needs to change it’s name. Maybe Lure Raw Bar. Or Lure Party Boat. Either would be more appropriate, and here’s why. The cooked fish entrées at Lure are almost all disappointing. The raw bar, on the other hand, is a large selection of high quality seafood and is worthy of the namesake.

  3. Fanelli Cafe

    Fanelli Cafe

    94 Prince St., SoHo, NY

A classic New York City gem, still standing from a time when horse and buggies were bringing people here to drink. Eat the chicken club sandwich, drink a Stella from the tap, and imagine that you’re about to head off for a sweet vacation aboard the Titanic.

    Great NY Noodletown

    28 Bowery, Chinatown, NY

We’re well aware that we don’t make it down to Chinatown enough. We’ve been knocking off a bunch of Authentic Ethnic Eats joints over the course the last six months, but most have not been of the Chinese variety. So we figure it’s time to dive in head first, and we might as well start [...]

  5. Ed's Lobster Bar

    Ed’s Lobster Bar

    222 Lafayette Street, SoHo, NY

We’ve put this one off long enough and it’s time to come right out and say it – we don’t love Ed’s Lobster Bar. Apologies to those of you who do, we know we’re in the minority here. Ed just doesn’t do it for us the way Mary, Pearl or Luke do. There isn’t much [...]

  6. Brinkley's
    5.5

    Brinkley’s

    406 Broome St., Nolita, NY

From a culinary standpoint, English food is at the bottom of the international totem pole. It’s a cuisine that’s been given a bad rap, one that Brinkley’s is attempting to rectify with their twist on traditional English fare. The space is inviting and pleasant, but the food here isn’t doing the English any favors.

  7. Travertine

    Travertine

    19 Kenmare St., Nolita, NY

Picture yourself on set of Bravo’s hypothetical new show Americas Next Top Masseuse. Are two Amazon women going to come out from behind the curtain and give me the massage of a lifetime? Nope, I’m about to get dinner at Travertine. Bummer.
